What we collect
We collect the minimum information needed to operate the service:
- Email address - when you subscribe to our newsletter, save a prompt, or create a Pro account.
- Prompt builder inputs - the answers you provide when building a prompt. These are stored temporarily to generate your prompt and, if you are a Pro user, saved to your vault on our servers.
- Usage data - anonymous analytics via Google Analytics (page views, session duration, feature usage). No personally identifiable information is included in analytics.
- Payment information - Pro subscriptions are processed by Freemius. We do not store credit card numbers or payment details on our servers.
What we do not collect
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not display advertising or allow advertisers to target you based on your usage.
- We do not track you across other websites.
- We do not collect data from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use this service.
How we use your data
Email addresses are used to:
- Send the newsletter you subscribed to (unsubscribe anytime via the link in any email).
- Send transactional emails related to your account (prompt saves, Pro activation, billing).
- Communicate service updates or security notices when necessary.
Prompt builder inputs are used to generate your system prompt. Free user prompts are not retained beyond the session unless you explicitly choose to save them. Pro user prompts are stored in your vault and associated with your account.
Third-party services
understandingAI uses the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics - anonymous usage analytics. Google Privacy Policy.
- Freemius - payment processing and license management for Pro subscriptions. Freemius Privacy Policy.
- MailerLite - newsletter delivery. MailerLite Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic API - AI generation for Advanced mode features. Prompt inputs sent to the API are subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Data storage and security
Data is stored on servers operated by SiteGround, hosted in the United States. We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only.
Your rights
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing contact@understandingai.net. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, correct, and port your data. Contact us at the email above to exercise these rights.
Cookies
We use cookies for:
- Session management (keeping you logged in to your Pro account).
- Preference storage (localStorage for free-tier prompt builder state).
- Analytics (Google Analytics, anonymized).
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling cookies will affect Pro account login functionality.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email to subscribers. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
